Objectives

Connect

Expanding the incredible work from the 1st World Conference, the U.S. National Network to End Domestic Violence and the Global Network of Women’s Shelters invite advocates from all over the world to attend the 2nd World Conference of Women’s Shelters. Delegates will have many opportunities to network with advocates from all over the world in global sessions as well as collaborate with advocates from their region in regional sessions. We will make possible pre-conference networking and relationship-building through online tools and this work will continue after the conference in a variety of ways.

Learn

Delegates will leave the conference with concrete tools to increase the safety and available resources for the victims they work with. Speakers and delegates will actively share strategies that work to end abuse across different regions and communities. Networking tools and opportunities will allow delegates to continue learning and teaching after the conference ends. Ultimately, delegates will have the benefit of increased knowledge of promising and proven practices and solutions that help victims across many varied social, political and cultural contexts.

Share

Continuing the work from the 1st World Conference, we will support the strengthening or creation of local, national, and regional networks through sessions that address how advocates can work together to increase their collaboration. The conference directly supports the Global Network of Women’s Shelters goals to share good practices, service standards and other resources, develop protocols and promote good policies, create a global database linking to regional shelter information, and more.
